Leeds United vs Birmingham
England – Championship
Date: Saturday, 22 September 2018
Kick-Off at 15:00 UK
Venue: Elland Road (Leeds)
Leeds have finally ended their three-game winless streak and top the league table with a 3-0 win over Preston North End, as they host bottom-of-the-table rivals Birmingham City for their Matchday 9 clash in the hope they can build on the performance – bagging the important points in front of the home crowd once again.
Peacocks have seen a tougher schedule beforehand and struggled to impress in the attacking third but we have seen the attacking line led by Tyler Roberts finally find their best form, which will be more worrying for the visitors now. Marcelo Bielsa should have no troubles lifting his men’s spirits now and we expect a very strong challenge.
Birmingham, on the other hand, sit just above the relegation zone and although they’ve retained a four-game unbeaten streak, we’ve also seen them earn just four points in draws against Nottingham, QPR, West Brom, and Sheffield United. They still look for their first win this term and it does feel like a longshot backing them to one at Elland Road, as the rivals look overpowering at this point.
Leeds United vs Birmingham: Head-to-head
Birmingham have earned a 1-0 win in the sides’ last head-to-head clash, bagging the points in December 2017.
Leeds have bagged two wins in a row beforehand and now hope to return to such a streak.
Peacocks have been rather convincing in the clashes here, with 18 wins and 12 draws earned in 38 matchups.
Leeds United vs Birmingham: Prediction
We will now back Leeds to build on such records and bag another win, going for it at a good-looking 1.80.
They have been in great shape against Preston and we do see them building on it against struggling Birmingham, despite losing on their consistency earlier.
We do feel we’re in for goals on the day as well and with that in mind, we’ll also back Over 2.5 goals FT at 2.00.
Birmingham have been scoring goals despite struggles for points and we do feel they will not be just sitting ducks, despite the obvious difference in ambitions between the sides already.
