Lecce vs Sassuolo: Prediction
The Salentini moved to 16th position in the Serie A standings following a 1-1 draw away to Sampdoria in a relegation six-pointer. Fabio Liverani’s men took an early lead through Lapadula, but the game changed completely when Tachtsidis recieved a red card. Samp went-all in and found an equalizer in the stoppage time. With three draws on the trot and five-game winless streak overall, Lecce will be looking to claim a first home victory of the season on Sunday.
Farias, Fiamozzi, Majer are on the host’s injury list, Tachtsidis in suspended for the tie.
Sassuolo snapped their three-game losing streak against Hellas Verona (1-0), but they failed to build on that vs Fiorentina as they fell to 1-2 defeat after squandering a half-time lead. With three wins and six losses to their name, Neroverdi are sitting at 15th position, levelled on points with their next opposition, albeit with a game in hand. Notoriously unpredictable, Roberto De Zerbi’s side will aim to bounce back at Via Del Mare Stadium.
Rogerio, Bourabia, Mazzitelli, Pegolo, Ferrari, Tripaldelli and Chiriches are on the sidelines.
Lecce have win-draw-lose record of 0-1-3 at this venue. They drew 1-1 with Juventus in their latest league outing at this ground. The Salentini have an average of 0.5 goals scored per bout at home, whilst conceding 1.75 per match.
Sassuolo sole win on the road came against Verona. Before that, Neroverdi lost to Torino, Parma and Roma. They have an average of one goal scored per game on their travels whilst allowing 1.75 per tie.
I’m impressed with Lecce so far. The Sunday’s hosts had an insanely difficult schedule to date and somehow managed to stay out of relegation zone.
They’re an attacking-minded side and I’m positive they will find the back of the net against poor Sassuolo’s backline, but I can’t ignore Neroverdi’s attacking potential.
Therefore, I’m going with a BTTS – Yes in a battle of equals as my main bet.
