Lecce vs Roma: Prediction

Lecce will be hoping to record first points at home this season when they take on AS Roma on Sunday. Meccariello, Dell’Orco, Tachtsidis and Lapadula are expected to miss this one.

The newly promoted Salentini have upped their game significantly after two opening losses against Inter Milan and Hellas Verona. They have managed to win a massive clash vs fellow-strugglers SPAL (3-1) on Wednesday night and moved to 14th position with the win-draw-loss record of 2-0-3.

Roma’s unbeaten streak came to an end as they suffered 0-2 loss at home to Atalanta. Paulo Fonseca’s men have failed to get on the scoresheet for the first time this season. With two wins, two draws and a loss, they’re occupying 6th spot in the standings, levelled on points with Bologna, a team they’ve beaten last week thanks to Edin Dzeko’s last minute goal.

The Giallorossi will be looking to improve their points tally when they visit Via Del Mare Stadium.

The International Break certainly helped Fabio Liverani’s team. The Salentini have scored six goals since then. Their comeback hero is experienced midfielder Marco Mancosu who bagged four goals in last three games for the club.

Roma are scoring two goals per game and conceding slightly less – 1.80. Both numbers are above league’s average and it just shows what we’ve been talking about for quite some time – they can score, but can’t keep a clean sheet.

I’m confident they will be more efficient on Sunday, but I also think tricky Lecce will bag one or two as well. After all, they’ve scored vs Napoli and played some nice football in the second half.
