Lazio vs Parma: Prediction
International break came at the wrong time for Lazio as they’ve lost two games in a row. Prior to Thursday’s Europa League loss to CFR Cluj (1-2), they were handed a 1-2 defeat by SPAL.
In both games the Biancocelesti threw away a lead. Lazio, currently 9th in the standing with win-draw-loss record of 1-1-1, will be hoping to bounce back on Sunday, when they take on Parma at their Stadio Olimpico. Luis Alberto and Ciro Immobile have missed the trip to Romania and they’re well rested and expected to start. There are no injuries or suspensions to report.
Parma were given a taste of their own medicine last week when they fell to 1-3 defeat at the hands of Cagliari. We have seen awfully similar game in terms of result and stats at Friuli just two weeks earlier, before the international break, when super-unpredictable Gialloblu’s conquered Udine.
With one win and two losses to date, 15th-placed Parma will take a trip down south, to Capital, to face their bogey team – Lazio. Coach D’Aversa won’t be able to count on Kucka, Scozzarella and Grassi.
Lazio had 9-5-5 record at Olimpico last season and averaged 1.89 goals scored per game. Since they still have Simone Inzaghi on the bench and pretty much the same team, we can rely on those numbers. Ciro Imobile is hot the moment. The Italian international has scored four goals in last five games for the Azzurri and Biancocelesti. H2H strongly supports the hosts. I fancy them as well.
The Gialloblu’s have scored at least one goal on the road in eleven of the last twelve Serie A games. If Gervinho, who was spectacular against Udinese, gets it going, they should get on the scoresheet, but I don’t see them pulling another upset.
