Lazio have slipped out of the top four as of now, and will be hoping to halt their frustrating form ahead of their Europa League clash with Salzburg next week.
The Biancocelesti are winless in their last three games, and that includes disappointing draws with the likes of Cagliari and Bologna. That has seen Inter move into that coveted fourth spot, whilst cross-town rivals Roma have surged five points clear and are looking strong to secure third place.
It seems like it’s going to be a show-down between Lazio and Inter for fourth place, but the Aquile do have another route into the Champions League – by winning the Europa League. Still, with some tough teams like Atletico Madrid and even Arsenal still in the contest, Simone Inzaghi’s men will have quite a work to do there.
Fortunately for the hosts, they’re taking on Benevento, which should certainly boost their confidence ahead of their Europa League match next week. Le Streghe have struggled horribly in their debut campaign, and come into this game having won just one of their last five games.
Indeed, Benevento look destined for a swift return to Serie B, to say the least. Le Streghe still have not won a single away game this term and are firmly rooted to the bottom of the table. Worryingly, they’re not even anywhere near their fellow relegation candidates Verona, Crotone, SPAL, and Chievo – all of whom are desperately trying to avoid the drop. With just ten points, they have been already cut adrift from the rest of the pack.
Losing 24 out of their 28 games this season is bad enough, but not only have they struggled defensively, Benevento are also floundering offensively. They’ve scored just 19 goals so far this term and the Aquile will certainly be willing to add more to their woes this weekend.
