Lazio vs Atalanta
Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday, 6 May 2018
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK,
Venue: Stadio Olimpico (Rome).
As a result of their narrow 1-0 win over Torino, Lazio are now four points ahead of Inter in the battle for a Champions League football spot. Inter lost to Juventus, and the Biancocelesti are looking good to pip the Nerazzurri to fourth place at this point. They now are due to take on Atalanta, who sit in sixth place and will be looking to further consolidate their grip on fourth spot ahead of taking on Inter in their last game of the season.
Meanwhile, La Dea are desperate to keep their spot in the Europa League, and they come into this game having won three games in a row in order to keep themselves in the running for a Europa League berth and are unbeaten in their last five games.
Lazio have had a great campaign this term. They were unfortunate to be dumped out of the Europa League by surprise candidates Salzburg, but overall have been quite excellent in Serie A, and have racked up 70 points, just a few shy of the 72 they earned back in the 1999/2000 season when they won the Scudetto, which was the highest in their history. They could certainly break that total before this season is over and are well on their way to finishing inside the top four.
However, Atalanta have also been decent enough themselves and have been scoring enough goals as of late. The reverse fixture saw six goals scored, as both teams played to a three-all draw, and so there are bound to be goals in this one as well. Unfortunately, Ciro Immobile is struggling with a muscular problem which leaves Lazio with a big hole up front in attack, but regardless, they still do have other options such as Serbian talent Sergej Milinkovic-Savic who can also contribute going forward.
Nonetheless, Immobile’s absence will be of major concern for Inzaghi’s side as they will certainly have to reshuffle for not just game, but potentially for their huge clash with Inter, as Immobile faces a race against time to be fit for the big showdown with the Nerazzurri in a few weeks’ time.

Lazio vs Atalanta: Prediction
Given that there have been plenty of goals in the last three meetings between the two sides, expect the same here. Lazio are the highest scoring side in the league (with 84 goals) so far this term, and the last three meetings have seen a whopping 16 goals scored thus far.
Nearly 80% of Lazio’s games have seen over 2.5 goals scored this term and expect the same to happen here. Atalanta have scored in seven of their last eight games, and expect them to nick at least a goal, but the Aquile’s attack will be likely too difficult for La Dea to stop outright.
