Latvia vs Liechtenstein
UEFA Nations League
Date: Monday, 6 June 2022
Kick-off at 17:00 UK / 18:00 CET
Venue: Daugavas stadions.

Latvia is set to host Liechtenstein in a match of League D in Group 1 at UEFA Nations League. They will lock horns this Monday at Daugavas stadions in Riga.

Entering into their third campaign in the UEFA Nations League, Latvia are expected to get the 2022-23 edition off to a winning start. They will be facing Andorra in the opening fixture and then will be seen hosting this one. The hosts have a lot of work to do if they are to return to their former heights of nearly qualifying for the 2010 World Cup.

Latvia’s last game was against Azerbaijan where they won by 1-0 in an international friendly. They now come here on the back of a 4-game unbeaten run across various tournaments. The hosts however were seen not having qualified for FIFA WC 2022 after securing just 2 of the 10 qualifying fixtures.

On the other side, Liechtenstein were left empty-handed in their most recent outing on March when they fell to a 1-0 friendly defeat against Faroe Islands. That loss marked their sixth defeat in a row and they have not seen scoring on any of those 6 games while having conceded a total of 26 goals overall.

The visitors will be playing their opening qualifier against Moldova at home and then will be visiting Latvia for the second round. They will face even tougher promotion odds in this group than they did in 2020-21 qualifying campaign. Liechtenstein last won a game was back in October 2020 about 18 games prior against Luxembourg at a friendly international.

Latvia vs Liechtenstein Head-to-head (h2h)

  • Their last 5 h2h games saw Latvia with 3 wins while Liechtenstein won once.
  • Last time they met was back in 2013 at the World Cup qualifier where they settled for a 1-1 stalemate.

Latvia vs Liechtenstein Prediction

Latvia remain winless in their last 4 home matches of which 3 were defeats. But they have won twice of their 6 home games and has recently drawn against Kuwait in their last friendly home game.

Meanwhile, Liechtenstein have now failed to win any of their last 18 outings across all competitions, including each of their 10 games in the World Cup qualifiers. They also haven’t scored any from their last 3 away games while having conceded 14 in total from the same.

Knowing that, we expect Latvia to seal a win this Monday.
