Juventus vs Young Boys
UEFA Champions League
Date: Tuesday, 2 October 2018
Kick-Off at 17:55 UK / 18:55 CET
Venue: Allianz Stadium (Turin).

Juventus began the title bid with a 0-2 victory over Valencia on the opening day of the new campaign. I was a rather odd affair which saw Miralem Pjanic bag two penalty-kick goals to make the difference in the favour of a ten-man Juve on the occasion.

The match at Mestalla offered a real Cristiano Ronaldo drama as the current Ballon d’Or winner got sent off in the first half of the clash. This summer’s €100m signing will thus skip Tuesday’s clash with Swiss champions Young Boys in the second round. The good news for Massimiliano Allegri is that he’ll be able to count on Cristiano for the much-important back-to-back affairs with Manchester United as the Portuguese superstar only received a one-game ban.

Juventus vs Young Boys: Head-to-head

The two sides did not have the chance to come across each other in the past.

Juventus vs Young Boys: Prediction

Juve come into this as enormous favourites. They still have a perfect record in Serie A. The streak of seven consecutive domestic wins sees them sit six points clear off the second-placed Napoli.

Allegri’s troops showed class in performing a comeback to beat Partinopei 3-1 in the derby of the Matchday on Saturday evening. Mario Mandzukic was the one who inspired such a convincing win by bagging a brace on the occasion.

Young Boys are also impeccable in their own division. They won 9 from 9 to go 12 points clear off Zurich in the second place of the Super League standings. However, Gerardo Seoane’s men disappointed in the opening round of the new Champions League campaign where they easily fell 0-3 to Manchester United at STADE DE SUISSE.

Young Boys have been phenomenal so far in the season, but they just lack the quality to stay competitive at this level. Juve (even without C. Ronaldo) will be even tougher opposition than the one they faced on the opening day and anything but a convincing home win would be a major surprise for us here.
