Japan vs Kyrgyzstan
Date: Tuesday, 20 November 2018
Kick-Off at 10:20 UK / 11:20 CET
Venue: Toyota Stadium (Toyota).
Samurai Blue could not continue their spell of fine form on Friday when they only drew 1-1 to Venezuela in Oita. They will have a nice chance to return on the winning ways on Tuesday though given the final pre-Asian Cup tests comes in the likes of Kyrgyzstan.
The visitors also managed to qualify for the Asian Cup thanks to a three-win thread which launched them to the second place in the qualifying group with India, Myanmar and Macao. They will also head into this high on confidence off the back of a two-win streak in friendlies against Syria and Malaysia. Nevertheless, it’s really hard to see its continuation on Tuesday when the White Falcons come face to face with one of the strongest sides on the continent.
Japan vs Kyrgyzstan: Head-to-head
This will be the first ever head to head meeting between the two teams.
Japan vs Kyrgyzstan: Prediction
Japan miss some important players like the likes of Takashi Inui, Shinji Kagawa, Shinji Okazaki and Yuto Nagatomo, but they should still have enough weapons to ease past the likes of Kyrgyzstan here. After all, Hajime Moriyasu was without most of these players in October’s set of friendlies which saw Samurai Blue storm past the likes of Panama and Uruguay. The team netted as many as seven goals in the process.
Takimu Minamino and Yuya Osako represent Japan’s major force in the final third. This duo scored three of four team’s goals in a victory over Uruguay a month ago. They were both in action on Friday when it was Hiroki Sakai who notched the lone goal in the aforementioned draw to Venezuela.
Kyrgyzstan have a modest squad mainly made of players from the domestic league. They do tend to concede loads when facing stronger sides which is why we see this as a fantastic opportunity for the likes of Osako and Minamino to shine before the Asian Cup. Japan should win this by three or more goals without any troubles.
