Jamaica vs USA Gold Cup 2019 Predictions by LeagueLane

Jamaica vs USA
Gold Cup Semi-Final 2019
Kick off at 02:00 UK/ 03:00 CET on Thursday 4th July
Venue: Nissan Stadium (Nashville).

As champions the USA will start as clear favourites as they aim to make the final of the Gold Cup when they take on Jamaica in the semi-final.

It seems that everything is in the USA’s favour. Not only are they a better team than Jamaica but they will be at home and it is the 4th of July, Independence Day in America so emotions will be running high.

USA only beat Curacao 1-0 in the quarter finals and found it hard to break the team down, but they did and did so early on in a game which the USA always looked like winning but would have wanted that 2nd goal to come.

What has been so remarkable about the US team is that they are adept in attack but also very cool in defence and are not conceding goals. We should watch out for Weston McKennie up front for the States he scored the winner against Curacao and is tipped to have a good career in football.

Jamaica will be happy to be here, but they will give their all to upset the Americans. They have done so in the past and beat them in a friendly recently. Pundits believe that the nation have not been on their A game in this tournament though and have been scraping through games with some luck, but they deserve more credit than that. They reached the semi-final stage by beating Panama 1-0.

Jamaica vs USA: Head to Head

The last time the nations met was only last month in a friendly which Jamaica won 1-0.

The last time the nations played a competitive game was in 2017 when USA won 2-1.

From the 26 games played between the nations Jamaica only has 3 wins.

Jamaica vs USA: Prediction

Our bet here is to back the USA. Jamaica have done very well to get this far but they just seem a little negative and we can imagine that the Americans will have much more of the ball and have more of the attacks because of this. They have all round play and can defend too.

USA will be playing on the most important day of the country’s history at home on a sold-out day to reach the final and they should be able to do so as long as they stay professional. There was a time when USA struggled to beat Jamaica and indeed have been knocked out of the Gold Cup in the past by them, but that time seems to have moved on.

Jamaica vs USA: Bet Tips

  • USA to beat Jamaica at 1.50 (1/2)
