Italy vs Finland: Preview and Prediction

Italy vs Finland:
International Friendly,
Kick-off: 19:45 GMT.
Date: Monday 6th June 2016
Venue: Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.

Finland were unlucky last time out as Belgium snatched an equalizer in the 90th minute of the game, now they will travel to face Italy on Monday at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi. Finland is ranked 61 in the FIFA ranking status and they will be hoping to grab a win or at least another draw to see an improvement in their FIFA ranking.

Italy moved up to 12th place in the latest FIFA ranking, which is a good encouragement as they enter into the Euro competitions, they will be coming into this game on the back of a win against Scotland and they will hope to grab another win in this game as it’s their final warm up game before the tournament.

Form Comparison

Both team are currently on a poor form, but Italy’s form seems to be better. Italy’s last five games has seen just 1 win which was the 1-0 win against Scotland in their last game.

Italy have lost 2 of their last five games which are a 3-1 defeat to Belgium and a 4-1 defeat to Germany, they have also drawn 2 against Spain and Romania.

Finland’s last 5 games have been nothing to write home about, they were on a 4 game losing streak before the last game which ended in stalemate against Belgium.

Italy vs Finland: Head-To-Head stats

  • Italy are undefeated against Finland in their previous ten games, they are currently on a 6 game winning streak against the Finnish national team.
  • Italy have won 9 of their 10 meetings with Finland, losing none and drawn just 1 game.
  • Their last game together was an international friendly in 2004.

Italy vs Finland: Prediction

Italy are Huge favorites in this game despite being in a poor form as their visitors are also in a poor form or rather worse form than Italy. Italians having won their last game will like to win this to make it 2 on 2 as they head into the Euro competition.

I predict a win for the Italians, but I think the game will see low turnout of goals.

  1. Italy will probably edge this one, but it will be a low-goal result.

The Italians have it all to do if they want to make an impact in this Euro, let alone reach the final like they did last time round.
