Iran vs Trinidad and Tobago Prediction & Match Preview

Iran vs Trinidad and Tobago
International Friendlies
Date: Thursday, 15 November 2018
Kick-Off at 13:00 UK / 14:00 CET
Venue: Azadi Stadium (Teheran).

Iran will be looking to follow up success it two October friendlies with a new set of wins a month later when they take on Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.

Carlos Queiroz is generally doing a tremendous job with the Iranian national team which barely made it to the knockout stage at the World Cup in Russia this summer in spite of featuring a very tough group with the likes of Spain and Portugal in it.

Team Melli did well after the World Cup as well since they bagged consecutive wins over Uzbekistan and Bolivia. Queiroz can particularly be satisfied with his men’s defensive approach in these outings as Asian heavyweights conceded just one goal along the way.

Brighton’s acquisition Alireza Jahanbakhsh was among goal-scorers against Bolivia. He finally earned a place in the starting line-up for the Seagulls after spending the very start of the season mainly on the bench.

He makes a formidable attacking line together with Mehdi Taremi (notched a goal in each of mentioned wins in friendlies against Uzbekistan and Bolivia) and Sardar Azmoun.

Iran vs Trinidad and Tobago: Head-to-head

The two teams met each other just once in the past.

Iran came on top back in the 2014 friendly when they clinched a 0-2 victory.

Iran vs Trinidad and Tobago: Prediction

The Soca Warriors are currently a level below their counterparts. They made it to the last stage of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifications but only to finish rock-bottom there with only six points from ten games.

The team led by Dennis Lawrence just lacks the attacking potential. They failed to score in three of last four friendlies and will come into this off the back of 0-1 loss to Thailand in mid-October.

Darmstadt’s defender Joevin Jones is probably the only name you heard of. He is the top scorer of this generation with 7 goals in 67 appearances.

Even though Queiroz might mix up his line-up here, we see Iran as massive favourites and we’d be surprised to see any other outcome but a straightforward win for the Asians here.
