Iran vs China
2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers – Asia
Date: Tuesday, 28th March 2017
Kick-off at 13:00 UK / 14:00 CET
Venue: Azadi Stadium, Tehran.
Iran moved a step closer to World Cup qualification with a narrow 1-0 away win at Qatar on Thursday. They are unbeaten in their 6 group games so far and are yet to conceded a goal in this round. Iran sit at top of Group A with 14 points, 4 more than the second placed South Korea.
Also, Iran are unbeaten in World Cup qualifiers since 2012. A streak that stretch to 17 matches with 13 wins and 4 draws. The last defeat was at home against Uzbekistan. Since then, they boast of a 7-match winning run at home with clean sheets in 6 of them.
China produced a spirited performance to register their first win of the third round. It will be a huge boost to the player confidence as the opponent was a strong South Korea. They are currently 5th in the 6-team Group A, 5 points away from the two automatic qualification spots. The equation is straight forward for Marcello Lippi; China must win their remaining four matches to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Iran vs China: Head-to-head
It was a goal-less stalemate when the teams met for the reverse leg of the corresponding fixture at China on September 2016.
Iran won their previous three home matches against China, two of which happened in the World Cup qualification fixtures.
The recent head-to-head record also tips in favor of Iran as they won 3 of the last five, with China winning just once.
Iran vs China: Prediction
This could be a cagey affair with China looking to get at least a point from this fixture. They lacked intent and penetration in the attack against Korea, but proved dangerous on occasions from set piece situations. Coupled this, with Iran being a defense oriented side, goals will be at premium here. Therefore, we recommend going for under 2.5 goals for this fixture.
It will be hard to separate the two teams at final whistle. And I believe we will see a draw at the end of 90 minutes.
