Ipswich vs Barnsley:
England – Championship.
Date: Saturday, 6 August, 2016
Kick-off: 15:00 UK.
Venue: Portman Road Stadium (Ipswich, Suffolk).
The busy opening day of English Championship continues as Ipswich Town welcomes the new promoted Barnsley to the Portman Road Stadium.
Ipswich missed out on the play-off spot after finishing 7th in the standings at the end of last season. They made it to the play-offs in the 2014/15 season, but eliminated by Norwich City in the semi-final. Mick McCarthy is in charge of the club for the fifth consecutive season and he had turned them to a very consistent side.
Barnsley got promoted to the Championship after convincing wins in each of their three play-off fixtures. They squeezed inside the top sixth after a brilliant run towards the end of the season and never looked back. They defeated Wallsall 6-1 on aggregate in the semis and hammered Millwall 3-1 in the finals. These are new waters for the The Super Reds, who has a pretty inexperienced coach in Paul Heckingbottom.
Ipswich Team News:
Mick McCarthy will be without Luke Hyam and Giles Coke, who are both sidelined with knee injuries.
David McGoldrick and new signing Grant Ward are major doubts. While the two new arrivals, Everton loanee Conor Grant and Adam Webster are expected to make their debut here.
Ipswich: Expected Starting Line-up (4-4-2)
Bialkowski – Knudsen, Berra, Smith, Chambers – Green, Bru, Skuse, Bishop – Sears, Murphy.
Barnsley Team News:
Paul Heckingbottom has no injury worries and has a fully fit squad to choose from.
Tom Bradshaw and Andy Yiadom are two new signings expected to make their debut here.
Barnsley: Expected Starting Line-up (4-4-2)
Bentley – Davies, Mawson, Roberts, Yiadom – Hammill, Hourihane, Scowen, Kent – Winnall, Bradshaw.

Ipswich will go into the match as strong favourites on the basis of their strong home record against Barnsley. Also they are a side that do fairly well in front of their home fans and this could end in a convincing win for them.
However, I back both sides to find the back of the net here, with the total goals over 2.5.
