Internacional vs Gremio 2018 Brazil Serie A by LeagueLane

Internacional vs Gremio
Brazil – Serie A
Date: Sunday, 9 September 2018
Kick-Off at 20:00 UK / 21:00 CET
Venue: Estadio Jose Pinheiro Borda, Porto Alegre.

Colorado host Gremio in one of the most exciting ties of the round on Sunday at Estadio Jose Pinheiro Borda in Porto Alegre.

With just three points separating the two sides within the top four in the league ladder, we can expect the tension to be at the maximum level.

Also, the winner can make a massive step towards securing the top-four finish and a place in Copa Libertadores groups next year.

Internacional are no doubts one of the biggest shocks of the season. They featured the second tier last year and sit as high as second after 23 rounds of the campaign in the top flight.

Odair Hellmann’s men even had a huge opportunity to get level on terms with Sao Paulo at the very top of the standings in last two rounds, but they only took two points in back-to-back goalless draws to Palmeiras and Cruzeiro.

Internacional vs Gremio: Head-to-head

Internacional lead the head to head tie by four wins coming into the 66th encounter with Imortal Tricolor.

The two sides met each other four times this year.

Imortal Tricolor took two wins and suffered one loss in three Campeonato Gaucho ties, while the Serie A encounter saw teams share spoils in a goalless draw at Arena do Gremio.

Only 2 of last 11 H2H games saw the BTTS option “come in”.

Internacional vs Gremio: Prediction

Internacional are almost impossible to break down on the home pitch where they only conceded two goals in ten games this season.

It is enough for a scintillating record of seven wins and three draws at Estadio Jose Pinheiro Borda. Moving forward, Colorado did not concede a single goal in last seven games in the competition.

Nonetheless, Odair Hellmann has problems with his side’s performances at the other end given the team scored just twice in last four outings.

This, alongside the H2H trend (just 2 of last 11 games saw goals at both ends), make the BTTS – NO option look to be just the way to go here.

As Gremio also head into the match in rather high spirits, braver punters can try with the draw as an alternative option.

  1. Hi there! I’m Brazilian and from Porto Alegre. I’m a “Gremista” (someone who suppports Grêmio). Here in Brazil –and especially in Porto Alegre–, no one calls Internacional’s stadium “José Pinheiro Borda.” It is known nationwide as “Gigante da Beira-Rio,” or, more commonly, simply as “Beira-Rio.”

    • Hi Gustavo,

Thanks for the info. We ourselves are confused which one to use “Estádio Beira-Rio” or “Estádio José Pinheiro Borda”. Will use “Beira-Rio” from now on.
