Inter vs Bologna
2016/17 Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday, 25 September 2016
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK,
Venue: Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (Milan).
Three wins on the trot have Inter feeling pretty good ahead of their upcoming clash against Bologna at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
Just a few weeks ago, Frank de Boer’s job was reportedly on the line after a shock 2-0 loss to Israeli outfit Hapoer Be’er Sheva in Europa League action. However, an impressive 2-1 win over Juventus in the Derby d’Italia – their first at home since 2010 – coupled with another solid performance in a 2-0 result against Empoli now has the Dutch tactician’s position a lot more secure. At least, for now.
Mauro Icardi now tops the Capocannoniere charts after netting a brace in Inter’s victory over Empoli, and has scored three goals in his past two games. One should not be surprised if he adds another one in this upcoming match. As for Bologna, they have been pretty solid so far, but their away form is something to consider. If one believes in patterns, then Roberto Donadoni’s men are expected to lose this fixture.
To date, Bologna’s track record follows as win-loss-win-loss-win. To summarize that, they have yet to win a road game this season. And both losses were by significant margins: a 5-1 humiliation at the hands of Torino as well as a 3-1 drubbing by Napoli. In fact, they have not won any of their last nine away games, nor have they managed to beat Inter in over three years.

Inter vs Bologna: Prediction
Inter appear to be a side slowly growing in confidence. Beating Juventus will always help lift any team’s spirits, and following that up with a relatively comfortable victory over Empoli certainly will have done them some good. Their over-reliance on captain Icardi for goals, however, should be a major source of concern, especially as the season continues to progress.
Bologna have improved somewhat, but the Nerazzurri should have enough quality to see this game through and look ahead to regrouping in their Europa League campaign. It’s not going to be a blow-out – as both of Inter’s wins were by just one goal – but four wins in four games is likely on the cards for de Boer’s side.
