Inter Milan vs Estudiantes: Preview and Prediction

Inter Milan vs Estudiantes:
Pre-Season Friendly,
Date: Thursday, July 28, 2016
Kick-off: 1:00 UK,
Venue: Red Bull Arena (New York).

Inter Milan continues their American tour as they face Argentina outfit Estudiantes de La Plata at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on Wednesday evening.

The Serie A giants are yet to wake up from their long slumber as the managed just 1 win from the four warm-up games played so far. They were beaten 3-1 by French Champions PSG on Sunday’s International Champions Cup fixture, inflicting their second defeat from three games.

Estudiantes are coming off fresh from the Argentina Primera Division that concluded in the last week of June. They finished second in their group and missed out on the finals, but managed to qualify for the Copa Libertadores by defeating Godoy Cruz in the play-offs. Their latest action was in the first round of Copa Argentina, where they defeated Atletico Atlas 3-0 at home to progress to the next round.

Inter Milan: Team News

Roberto Mancini is without Ever Banega, Jeison Murillo, Ivan Perisic, Marcelo Brozovic and Eloge Yao, who are all training with the reserve side back home. However the side has plenty of experience in the likes of Miranda, Nagatomo and Rodrigo Palacio, who are expected to start in Wednesday’s friendly.

Inter Milan: Expected Starting Eleven (4-4-2)

Handanovic – Erkin, Miranda, Ranocchia, D’Ambrosio – Nagatomo, Kondogbia, Felipe Melo, Biabiany – Palacio, Icardi.

Estudiantes: Team News

Head-coach Nelson Vivas has no major injury concerns and is expected to go in with the strongest eleven. Most of the creative responsibilities will be on the shoulders of attacking midfielder Alberto Solari.

Estudiantes: Expected Starting Eleven (4-2-3-1)

Andujar – Gil, Desabato, Schunke, Sanchez – Damonte, Ascacibar – Cavallaro, Fernandez, Solaro – Viatri.

Inter Milan vs Estudiantes: Prediction

Inter Milan made a poor start to the preparations for the new season. They were held to a goal less draw by Austrian side Wattens and lost to CSKA Sofia and PSG. A win against Real Salt is the the only positive so far and Mancini will want his team to up the ante in the upcoming fixtures. Inter are still under-strength with a number of players out of the squad due to injuries and their commitments in Euro 2016 and Copa America Centenario.

Estudiantes did have a month’s break since their league comes to an end in June. But they were back in action for a competitive match last week and will be fresh and fit. And they will be motivated to take this occasion to play for the fans and therefore I expect them to mount an upset on the Serie A giants.

Full Time Score Prediction: Inter Milan 1-2 Estudiantes.
