Hungary vs Serbia
UEFA Nations League
Date: Sunday, 15 November 2020
Kick-off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Puskás Aréna.
The Magyars are over the moon right now with the kind of performance they showcased this Thursday, over Iceland, to ensure their participation in the 2021 Euros.
In the playoff game, Iceland had scored an early goal, and they seemed content to defend that slender lead for the ninety minutes. However, breaking their hearts, Marco Rossi’s men netted two goals in the 88th and 92nd minutes.
Suffice it to say that they feel invincible at the moment, and it definitely would be visible in their pivotal Nations League games that are about to come.
As of now they are placed second in Group B3, trailing by a single point behind toppers Russia. However, the two remaining fixtures for the Russians are on the road, while for the Magyars – both of their match-ups are at home, including this upcoming one.
They are also pitted against the dead-last placed Eagles this Sunday, over whom they have a 100% winning record.
Moreover, Ljubisa Tumbakovic’s men are also on a dismal run at the moment, and likely, expect Hungary to have a huge upper hand this weekend.
Hungary vs Serbia: Head-to-head (h2h)
Rossi’s men recorded a 0-1 win on the road in the reverse fixture, and that has been the only h2h encounter over the past two decades. Thus, they have a perfect winning record in h2h clashes, and are yet to concede a goal in return as well.
Hungary vs Serbia: Prediction
The Magyars were held to a goalless draw the last match-day in the competition, by Russia. In the meantime, the Eagles were held to a 2-2 draw on the road by Turkey. Going on, they also had lost their playoff match (Euro 2021) against Scotland, this Thursday.
Do also note that they are on a seven-game winless run, and have a total of two wins away from home since October of 2018 – once against Lithuania, and once against Luxembourg.
On the other hand, their counterparts are on a four-match unbeaten run (of which three were wins), and they had also won seven of their preceding ten appearances.
On top of that, Rossi’s men also have a 100% winning record in h2h meetings, and they have not yet conceded a goal in return as well.
As such, expect Hungary to deliver a great performance this Sunday, and secure the three points.
