Hungary is going to host Kazakhstan in an international friendly match on Friday afternoon. The hosts are looking to raise the level of their game, while the away side is searching for a positive result from this trip.
Home side had a very disappointing campaign in the World Cup qualifiers and although they finished as 3rd in the group, they were far from challenging the playoff spot. Hungary even managed to suffer a defeat against minnows Andorra which was a kick in the teeth for their World Cup place bid. Adam Szalaj and the lads weren’t so bad in front of their fans, but they suffered the defeats against Portugal and Switzerland. At the end, they were successful only against the teams that are much weaker, such as Faroe Islands and Latvia. Hungary are searching for a good preparation for the next campaign in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.
Kazakhstan finished as the bottom placed team in their group and they managed to pick up only three points from draw games. Stanimir Stoilov’s side were not efficient enough to do more and win more points, while their defensive work was too bad and they’ve conceded 26 times. When it comes to playing at away grounds, they’ve been boking nothing but defeats and were conceding more than three goals per match in average. Kazakhstan is not a country with a bright football tradition and we shouldn’t expect for them to do something spectacular any time soon.
