Hull vs Leeds Match Preview
Hull lost 0-1 at home the last match-day, against Barnsley. The fact that the former had even failed to score a single goal in front of the home crowd, and that too against a newly-promoted club, says a lot about their current form.
As of now, Hull are just four points above the relegation cut-off, and with teams below them picking up momentum, points are in dire need.
In the meantime, Leeds recorded a 0-1 win on the road against Middlesbrough the prior game week. It was their third win in a row, and a third clean sheet on the trot as well.
The team had gone through a dismal run since mid-December, and this set of games seriously affected their title hopes. At present, Leeds are just desperate to finish in the top-two of the table, which would afford them a direct entry into the Premier League.
They do have a five-point lead at the second position, over the inconsistent Fulham, in the third position. Considering that Fulham are about to lock horns with Preston, a playoff contender, it’s an opportunity for Leeds to increase their lead.
Hull vs Leeds Prediction
Leeds have been one of the best teams in the league for quite some time, and they have been a major frontrunner to get promoted, right from the start of the season. As of now, they are on a three-game winning run, and have not conceded a single goal in the process.
On the other hand, Hull are battling relegation, and are winless in their previous ten games consecutively. They are also on a seven-match winless streak st home, and six of these were losses. They have also conceded four or more goals in two of the former three fixtures here, and most importantly, had lost the reverse fixture.
In addition, Leeds had recorded six of the prior nine h2h wins, and had kept clean sheets in four of the previous five such meetings. And at this venue, the last Hull won against this opponent was eight years back, and the last they scored was in 2016.
Taking into account these observations, it’s clear that the resurgent Leeds will be overwhelming favorites to deliver a win.
