Hull vs Barnsley Match Preview
Hull were defeated on the road the last match-day, by Preston, with a 2-1 scoreline. It was their ninth winless game in a row, and was also the seventh loss from the past nine fixtures.
Moreover, it must have hurt more that Hull had a 0-1 lead despite being away from home, but conceded two goals in the space of 240 seconds, after the 67th minute.
It clearly showed just how much the winless streak has affected their mentality. Even in a winning position, the team would just crumble under the slightest application of pressure.
Meanwhile, Barnsley recorded a 1-0 win at home against Middlesbrough the prior game week. This win followed their 0-3 victory on the road against Fulham.
The team seems determined to get out of the relegation zone, and with the season entering its final stretch, the improvement in form is definitely a welcome news for fans.
However, other two teams in the relegation zone are stepping up their game too, and the mission is surely not going to be easy for Barnsley.
Hull vs Barnsley Prediction
Hull are winless in their last nine fixtures, and they had lost seven of these games as well. In addition, they had conceded twice or more in six of their former seven match-ups, and at home, they have been winless in their former six appearances, of which five were losses.
Moreover, they have conceded a total of nine goals at home in the prior two games, and a total of thirteen from the last four. They had also lost the reverse fixture 3-1. On the other hand, Barnsley recorded wins in their previous two games, and kept clean sheets in both of them.
Keep note that this two-match winning run of Barnsley included a 0-3 win on the road against the third-placed Fulham, who had been in the Premier League the last season. Taking into account these findings, it’s inferred that Barnsley will avoid a defeat at the least this Wednesday, and keep their momentum going on.
However, do note that Hull have the home advantage, and that they are desperate to put an end to this humiliating winless run. Moreover, they had also fought valiantly in front of the home crowd during their last appearance here. Not only did they score four goals for a draw, but the equalizer had come in the injury time as well.
Going on, Barnsley are on the road, are in the relegation zone, are under pressure to deliver, and most importantly, were in the League One the past campaign. As such, at least once will they concede this game week.
