Huddersfield vs Preston
Date: Saturday, 24 October 2020
Kick-Off at 15.00 UK
Venue: John Smith’s Stadium, Huddersfield.
Huddersfield get a lot to build on after beating Nottingham (1-0), Swansea (1-2), and Derby (1-0) since late September, only seeing Rotherham (1-1) interrupt the winning streak ahead of the International break. They now host Preston North End and hope to challenge the top 6, sitting just a point behind Millwall and the Swans after six games played.
Terriers have been very tough defensively at John Smith’s Stadium and just two goals were enough to bag six points. They kept clean sheets against Tricky Trees and the Rams, which promises a tough setup at the back once again. Indeed, Carlos Corberan has enjoyed such records despite failing to impress in their moves forward, which has us going for more of the same.
Preston North End snatched all three points at Queens Park Rangers (0-2) on Wednesday, though, and surely have plans of their own. They bagged six of their seven points in the last three games and we’ll surely see them very motivated to keep it up in Huddersfield. However, Lilywhites haven’t really felt consistent and this could mean trouble on Saturday afternoon.
Huddersfield vs Preston Head-to-head
We’ve seen a goalless draw in the sides’ last head-to-head clash at this ground in July 2020.
Huddersfield beat Preston just once in their last five matchups, turning a five-goal thriller their way in April 2017.
Preston bagged three wins along the way, last beating the Terriers in November 2019 as Stockley, Browne, and Gallagher untangled the contest with just 50 minutes on the clock.
Huddersfield vs Preston Prediction
We will now back Huddersfield to take revenge, though, as we go for a Home win at eye-catching 2.80. We have no doubts we should be in for a tough contest but we feel Terriers have more to build on and we expect them to be able to do so – even if it means outgunning the visitors this time around.
Preston have been scoring goals on the road and this is the main reason this comes to mind. They based their success early in the campaign on their performances when away from home. This promises a good contest for the points and has us going for a high-scoring game at John Smith’s Stadium – as we back Over 2.5 Goals FT at 2.10.
