Huddersfield vs Brentford:
England – Championship.
Date: Saturday, 6 August, 2016
Kick-off: 15:00 UK.
Venue: John Smith’s Stadium (Huddersfield).
Brentford look for their fourth consecutive win against Huddersfield when these two sides kick start their Championship 2015/16 campaign on Saturday.
Huddersfield are in their fifth season in a row in the Championships and they finished in the bottom half of the table in each of their four seasons. They were 19th in the league last season narrowly escaping relegation. Their best every finish was a 17th place in the 2014/15 season.
Brentford are only in their third season in the Championship, but they have done exceptionally well by qualifying for play-offs in 2014–15 and 9th in the previous season. The Bees were one of the joint highest goal scorers in the league with 72 goals alongside Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Huddersfield Team News:
The Terriers will be without their last season’s Nahki Wells for the season opener against Brentford. The injured striker is joined by mid-fielders Philip Billing and Harry Bunn in the sidelines.
Liverpool loanee Danny Ward is a certain to start in goal, while the new arrivals from Germany Elias Kachunga, Chris Lowe and Christopher Schindler also set to make their debut.
Huddersfield: Expected Starting Line-up (4-2-3-1)
Ward – Smith, Schindler, Hudson, Lowe – Hogg, Mooy – Lolley, Payne, Parra – Kachunga.

Huddersfield vs Brentford: Head-to-Head Stats
Brentford are on a three match winning run against Huddersfield, with the latest came at the same venue in the last fixture of last season by a 5-1. The other two were also heavy wins 4-2 and 4-1 respectively.
The teams met for 36 times in all competitions, Brentford lead the charts with 16 wins against Huddersfield’s 10 wins, while 10 matches were draws.
Even at home it is all Even-Stevens as Huddersfield won 5, drew 7 and lost from 18 home matches against Brentford.
Huddersfield vs Brentford: Prediction
Huddersfield had hardly impressed since making their entry to the Football League Championship in 2012-13 season. While Brentford were largely impressive and a joy to watch in their two seasons.
The hosts have a poor record against Brentford and conceded 13 goals in the last meetings with the visitors. They also end their season on a poor note managing just one win from the last 8. Despite the bookies backing the home team, I believe favouring Brentford to win here is worth the risk.
One thing that can be certain is that there will be no scarcity of goals on Saturday’s fixture. An over 3.5 is worth the risk, while over 2.5 is a safe option.
Huddersfield vs Brentford: Tips
- Brentford to win.
- Over 2.5 goals.
