Date: Saturday, 30 December 2017
Kick-Off: 15:00 UK
Venue: The John Smith’s Stadium (Huddersfield).

Burnley finally have an easier fixture ahead of them (at least on paper) as they are to travel to West Yorkshire to take on the newly-promoted Huddersfield Town this weekend. The trip to John Smith’s Stadium should certainly be a much less challenging task compared to the ones the Clarets have had over the last couple of rounds when they faced the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

Nonetheless, Sean Dyche’s men continued to impress even at Old Trafford where they were moments away from snatching a shocking victory on Tuesday. Yet, it was Jesse Lingard who scored a brace for United to cancel first-half goals from Ashley Barnes and Steven Defour.

Barnes thus took advantage of the opportunity to make the start since the team’s main talisman Chris Wood was sidelined due to suspension. The former Leeds’ striker is expected to be back in the team for the visit to The John Smith’s Stadium where he will be looking to add to his four-goal tally on Saturday.

The hosts have had a rollercoaster campaign so far in the season, but they have generally been a tough nut to crack lately. The Terriers are now on the brink of the top half after clinching five points in last three rounds. Laurent Depoitre has been the catalyst to such rise as he notched a goal in three of last four appearances for David Wagner’s side. In the absence of Elias Kachunga (still injured), Depoitre remains the main target up front and he’ll clearly be the biggest threat to Burnley’s goal this weekend.

Huddersfield Town vs Burnley: Predictions

Whilst the bookies expect a close game with very few goal scoring chances (the Under 2.5 goals FT is priced at 1.44 odds), we believe the two in-form sides will produce a beauty at The John Smith’s Stadium.

Both teams have been pretty inspired up front lately and the bet that stand-out is BTTS & Over 2.5 goals FT, priced up at the sky-rocketing 3.10 odds.

Huddersfield Town vs Burnley: Bet Tips

  • Over 2.5 goals FT & BTTS 3.10
  • Laurent Depoitre to score anytime 3.25

Huddersfield Town vs Burnley: Head-to-head

This will be the first H2H encounter between the two sides in the top flight since the 1970/71 campaign.

They’ve mainly battled it out in the Championship in the meantime and the Terriers have been the more successful side over that period.

Overall, Huddersfield Town lead the head to head tie by six wins coming into their landmark 50th meeting with Burnley.

The clash played in the first part of this term of Premier League saw a goalless draw in late-September at Turf Moor.
