Honduras vs Curacao Prediction & Match Preview

Honduras vs Curacao
Date: Saturday, 22nd June 2019
Kick off at 02:00 UK/ 03:00 CET
Venue: BBVA Compass Stadium (Houston).

After suffering dismal results in their respective opening fixtures, both Honduras and Curacao will be heading into the clash with each other, on Saturday at the BBVA Compass Stadium, desperate to get off the mark in the table with a win.

Fabian Coito’s men went into the break trailing by two goals in their previous game against Jamaica. Despite starting the second half on a much stronger note and cutting the deficit by a goal in the first ten minutes, they could not prevent their opponents from scoring a third. The squad did manage to pull one more back in stoppage time, but could not complete what would have been an impressive comeback and slumped to their first defeat in the cup.

The opening match for their counterparts, which was against El Salvador, saw the latter take the lead right before the teams went off for the interval. Remko Bicenti’s men failed to create any goal worthy chances in the second half and concluded the last forty-five minutes with just one shot on target and a loss in the tie.

Following the clash on Saturday, they will be locking horns with Jamaica while their counterparts will be taking on El Salvador.

Honduras vs Curacao Prediction

The fixture on Saturday is most likely to swing in favor of Honduras while a back to back defeat for Curacao is definitely in the cards.

Los Catrachos have failed to register a win in any of their last two matches. With back to back defeats at the hands of Jamaica and Brazil, they will certainly be hopeful of going back to winning ways and potentially progressing past the group stage.

The squad did put up a good fight in their recent loss against Jamaica and were certainly the better side in the second half with more possession and shots at goal.

Remko Bicenti’s side were far from convincing in their previous tie and are unlikely to make it past the group stage. It is also likely that they will finish at the bottom of the group without a win.

Considering that both teams were off to a very slow start in their previous matches, we can certainly rule out the possibility of an action-packed first half when the two teams meet. Fabian Coito’s side are likely to put daylight between the two teams in the second half and finally the three points at the end of the ninety minutes.
