Hoffenheim vs Bayer Leverkusen
Germany – Bundesliga
Date: Saturday, 1 February 2020

Venue: PreZero Arena (Sinsheim).
Hoffenheim are looking to claim their tenth Bundesliga victory of the season and continue their Europa League push when they host Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday afternoon.
Hoffenheim vs Bayer Leverkusen: Match Preview
It was tough-going but thanks to a strong second-half performance and strikes from Christoph Baumgartner and Sargis Adamyan (with Davy Klaassen scoring an own goal), Hoffenheim ran out 3-0 winners away to Werder Bremen, ensuring their first victory of the year.
That was enough for Die Kraichgauer to overtake Freiburg, push them down and take their 7th place as battle for Europe continues to rage; Alfred Schreuder’s men are currently three points behind Schalke and sure trip to Europa League.
But to do so, their performances at their home ground must improve. Hoffenheim has four victories and a draw from ten matches and remain one of the rare sides in Germany who’s better on the road; their form at PreZero Arena is lousy of late, one win, a draw and three defeats in the last five.
In a clash with the neighbors from Dusseldorf, Die Werkself secured victory in the first home game of the second half of the Bundesliga season with another great performance and a goal by Kai Havertz with Lars Bender and Lucas Alario closing up the match.
With tenth win of the season (and third consecutive), Leverkusen continue the chase of their own as Dortmund and Champions League glory remains at hand; Dortmund at fourth is just two points away.
Peter Bosz’s kindergarten is doing well on excursions and with six wins from nine games, they’re only behind Leipzig where proficiency on the road is concerned; after loss at rival’s Koln, Die Werkself strung two successive victories and in Sinsheim, they aim to make it three.
Robert Skov and Philipp Ochs remain questionable for Schreuder’ side while Oliver Baumann and Ishak Belfodil are staying out of Leverkusen clash for sure.
Charles Aranguiz’s still on the sidelines for Bayer, as will be Exequiel Palacios, with one more game to sit out due to suspension earned while he was River Plate’s player.

Hoffenheim vs Bayer Leverkusen: Prediction
With both of these sides being pretty efficient in front of the goal, I think we’re up for a treat. Hoffenheim has scored (or conceded) three goals per game in all but two outings at home this season while Bayer has similar record on the road and with Die Kraichgauer being more expansive in front of their own fans, it will leave out some space for Havertz and friends. And they’re deadly when you give them space.
This brings me to my second recommendation; Hoffenheim has been ridiculously lucky during their last confrontation and that luck (and their unbeaten streak v Lever) has to run out sometime. I believe it will be same this Saturday.
Bosz’s side is insanely talented, with some of the technically finest and quickest players across Germany, currently are on a good run which I think it will continue bit longer.
