Hoffenheim vs FC Koln Prediction & Match Preview

Hoffenheim vs FC Koln
Germany – 1. Bundesliga
Date: Wednesday, 27 May 2020
Kick-off at 19:30 UK/ 20:30 CET
Venue: PreZero Arena (Sinsheim).

Both these teams are going through rough patches in their campaign. However, with their comfortable cushion of points over the relegation line, the squads are not in any immediate danger. As such, they can afford to play without much worry, and compounded with their leaky defenses, it seems as if we are about to witness a goal-fest.

Hoffenheim vs FC Koln Prediction

Schreuder’s men recorded a 1-1 draw on the road the last match-day, against Paderborn. Interestingly, both goals had come before even ten minutes into game-time, and thereafter despite persistent efforts from both sides, no more goals came. A total of eight substitutions were tried between the two teams, in search of a winning goal.

The Billy Goats registered a 2-2 draw at home the prior game week, against Dusseldorf. However, the moral victory belonged to the hosts. Not only did the Goats missed a penalty early in the second half, but they were trailing 0-2 even in the 88th minute. Then, in quick succession they fired in two goals, and posted a valuable point on the board.

As things stand this Wednesday, the defenses of either squad look rather weak. In fact, Schreuder’s men have a total of two clean sheets from their previous 20 games, and they are on a long winless run of eight fixtures, of which five were losses. At home, they are on a three-match losing run, and conceded a total of 12 goals from these three match-ups.

Keep note that they had also lost six of their prior seven matches, and the last time they kept a clean sheet was back in November. On the other hand, the Goats conceded two or more goals in their former three games, and did the same in nine of their last eleven road trips. Importantly, they have kept a single clean sheet away from home this whole season.

Considering these findings, it’s estimated that we could see goals from both teams this match-day, and in plenty as well.
