The Billy Goats are aiming to get back on winning track when they travel to capital city to face it off against turbulent Hertha BSC in Saturday’s Bundesliga clash.
Hertha Berlin vs FC Koln Match Preview
Hertha BSC celebrated a hard earned 2-1 win away at bottom of the table side SC Paderborn last Saturday afternoon after important goals from Dedryck Boyata and new signing from RBL Matheus Cunha.
This victory was well enough to pull the Berliners one step up on a Bundesliga ladder, as they now occupy 13th place, in a no man’s land as they’re pretty much safe from relegation dogfight yet far from battle for continental competitions…
The Old Lady has often struggled in front of her own fans this year, bringing joy to them just once since October rolled in.
Managers have come and gone but points never seem to stay in the capital, dripping away to anyone who’s come into town; we’ll see whether interim manager Alexander Nouri can change that.
In a surprise to nobody, FC Koln fell to a 4:1 defeat against FC Bayern Munich last Sunday afternoon at the RheinEnergieStadion after the Bavarians pulled a blitzkrieg, scoring three goals in opening twelve minutes. There was no getting back into game after that.
It was their second calamitous loss in the last three games after being humiliated at Dortmund 5-1. But I don’t think that Die Geissbocke fans mind them at all as their players pulled the great escape and after disastrous start to the first season back in Bundesliga.
They now sit at 14th, with a game in hand and should they manage to pick up point here and there regularly, return back to second division won’t be an issue.
Koln struggles in travels, so much that their victory at Frankfurt few weeks back seems like a glitch in the Matrix. Markus Gisdol’s men are second only to Fortuna when it comes to lack of efficiency on the road, getting just seven points since season’s start.
Niklas Stark is finally back among Berliners after being out for so long but I don’t think Nouri will use him so early, his knee needs to be eased back in. Thomas Kraft will apparently be the only one MIA for Saturday’s matchup.
Hauptmann, Christian Clemens, Thomas Kessler, Noah Katterbach and Anthony Modeste are almost certainly all out for trip to Berlin.

Hertha Berlin vs FC Koln Prediction
One thing we can certainly expect from these two are goals. The Billy Goats has been in overdrive for a while now whilst the Berliners has shown us from time to time their offensive capabilities.
Though they did have their share of duds and lifeless matches in recent times, they were almost exclusively against well organized and structured sides, which we can all agree Koln aren’t.
While I agree with you that my second recommendation is controversial due to Die Alte Dame less than flattering performances in front of their own fans.
But the Goats have been just as bad, someone might argue even worse on their excursions so I honestly expect for Hertha to ride out their new manager boost for a bit longer. Besides, their players individual quality to shine through and finally get that damned three points at their home ground.
