Hearts vs Hibernian: Prediction
The Jumbos extended their losing streak in the league to four games following a 1-2 loss at Hamilton Accies in the previous round. This year has been a disappointment compared to last season when they finished sixth.
Winless in seven matches, Hearts are currently last-placed team on the ladder with the W-D-L record of 2-6-11. Daniel Stendel’s men will be hoping to end their bad spell on Thursday.
Hearts have recorded one win, four draws and four defeats at Tynecastle Park this season, averaging 1.22 goals scored per bout and conceding 1.44 in return.
Hibernian are coming off of two losses against Old Firm teams without scoring a goal. They fell to a 0-2 defeat at Celtic Park before losing 0-3 to Rangers in their own backyard. Prior to that, Jack Ross’ side smashed Aberdeen 3-0 and enjoyed four-game unbeaten spell in November, beating the likes of St. Johnston (4-1), Motherwell (3-1) and St. Mirren (2-1).
With 22 points on the board, Hibs are 7th on the ladder, tied on points with sixth-placed Livingston.
The Hibees have two wins, two draws and five losses on their travels, scoring 1.11 goals per match, whilst conceding 2.11 per bout – only Livi and Ross County have shipped more goals on the road.
The hosts ended their three-game goal drought with a late consolation goal vs Hamilton and I’m positive they will get on the scoresheet on Thursday, but I can’t see them keeping a clean sheet – Hearts have conceded at least one goal in last nine league outings.
The visiting side have been involved in some high-scoring matches on the road and six of their nine away fixtures had goals on both ends.
All things considered, we’re in for an interesting Edinburgh Derby and with a 1-1 hunch, I’ll take BTTS – Yes and a Draw at Full-Time.
