Greece vs Finland
UEFA – Nations League
Date: Thursday, 15 November 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Olympiako Stadio Spyros Louis (Athens).
Finland travel to Greece for their UEFA Nations League clash on the back of a five-game winning streak and looking to secure the top spot in Group 2, currently sitting six points clear of the rivals. They’ve bagged a comfortable 2-0 win over the rivals in October with goals from Pyry Soiri and Glen Kamara and now have a lot to prove at Olympiako Stadio Spyros Louis.
Indeed, Huuhkajat have been rock-solid defensively and have certainly enjoyed their campaign so far, beating Hungary and Estonia twice beforehand too despite some very narrow occasions along the way. Markku Kanerva has set up a tough defensive line and will now want more of the same, where his men kept clean sheets on all of the occasions so far.
Greece have been more unpredictable and earned two wins in four outings so far, with losses to Hungary and Finland on the road looking more worrying for the manager Michael Skibbe. This is their last opportunity to challenge the rivals and we expect them very motivated at Olympiako Stadio Spyros Louis but could be in trouble looking to break the deadlock.
Greece vs Finland: Head-to-head
- Finland have bagged a 2-0 home win over Greece in October, extending the gap to six points.
- Greece have beaten the rivals just once in the last five head-to-head clashes.
- Huuhkajat have bagged three wins and a draw along the way as they take dominance in overall head-to-head encounters.
Greece vs Finland: Prediction
We will now back Finland to build on their great records earlier in the campaign and we’ll back them to secure a ticket to the League B with a point here, going for a good-looking Draw at 3.40 – which would surely see the crisis in Greece national team all the more obvious.
The visitors have been great at the back and travel to Athens with no goals conceded in Nations League so far, which has us going for another narrow clash on their end with Under 2.5 goals FT at 1.53. We have seen them regularly enjoy such clashes and this seems like more of a banker bet at this point.
