Girona vs Levante
Spain – La Liga
Date: Saturday, 31 March 2018
Kick-Off at 12:00 UK
Venue: Estadi Muniicpal de Montilivi (Girona).
Girona have expectedly seen an end to their impressive three-win streak by falling away at the defending champions Real Madrid 6-3 at Santiago Bernabeu. In spite of a demolishing loss, Blanquivermell have once again earned the respect of the football public in Spain with another brave display against a much stronger opponent.
Pablo Machin’s men will have a nice opportunity to bounce back right away after the international break as they host the struggling Levante side in the first game of the day on Saturday. Estadi Municipal de Montilivi has generally been a fortress over the last couple of months as Girona will come into this off the back of six consecutive clean sheet wins in their own backyard in Primera Division.
Such an amazing run has been inspired by the rock solid defensive line and a phenomenal attacking duo Christian Suani and Portu (28 goals combined so far in the season). This form has brought Machin’s men right into the contest for the Europa League football next term. They are now two poits away from Sevilla in sixth and they have full right to continue dreaming of the magnificent success at the end of the campaign.
Levante have been struggling badly with the form throughout the season, but they will head into this with an improved confidence after clinching back-to-back wins over Getafe and Eibar in the last two rounds.
Girona vs Levante: Head-to-head
The Frogs lead the head to head tie by two wins ahead of their landmark tenth meeting with Girona.
The two sides crossed each other’s paths in this term of Copa del Rey when Levante advanced 3-1 on aggregate thanks to a 0-2 victor at Estadi Muniicpal de Montilivi.
The league encounter, however, saw Girona claim a 1-2 away win at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia.
Girona vs Levante: Prediction
Levante may have won two in a row in La Liga to avoid the relegation scrap for a while, but we can hardly see them cause troubles to the red-hot Girona side.
Machin’s men have won six on the trot in front of the home fans in the league and we have to take the home win as the main betting option here.
Alternatively, Christian Stuani (17 goals so far) is well worth backing as the anytime goalscorer after netting four goals in last three games for Girona.
