Georgia vs Malta Preview and Predictions

Georgia vs Malta
International Friendlies
Date: Friday, 1 June 2018
Kick-Off at 18:00 UK / 19:00 CET
Venue: Silberstadt Arena Schwaz, Schwaz.

Georgia and Malta are going to take on each other in the non-popular international friendly on Friday evening on the neutral venue of the Silberstadt Arena Schwaz in the Austrian state of Tyrol. Both teams will head into the game with an improved confidence.

Georgia clinched impressive back-to-back wins over Lithuania and Estonia without conceding a goal in the process. They won three and drew one of last four friendlies. The head coach is a familiar name, Vladimir Weiss, who had previously successfully led his native country Slovakia.

Looking at results, Malta look to be struggling badly with the form, but huge improvements were noticed on Tuesday evening when they held Armenia to a 1-1 draw, also on the Austrian soil. The team thus ended the poor streak of four consecutive defeats which saw them score no goals at all along the way. Credits go to the new head coach Raymond Farrugia who just recently took charge on the bench and who actually made his debut there on Tuesday.

Georgia vs Malta Head-to-head

The head to head stats favour Georgia who won five, drew two and lost just one of past eight meetings with Malta.

None of last five H2H encounters produced more than two goals.

Only one of eight matches saw three or more goals scored.

Georgia clinched a 2-0 victory when the two sides last met each other three years ago, also in a friendly.

Georgia vs Malta Predictions

Malta only scored three goals in the entire qualifying campaign clinching no more than a single point in ten outings in the process. We thus fancy the Georgians to hold things tight at the back, something they’ve done successfully in three of last four friendlies. The main bet is Georgia to keep a clean sheet at the odds of 1.72.

Since Malta raised the confidence under the new manager Farrugia, we will alternatively take the Under 2.5 goals FT bet at the odds of 1.75.
