Genoa vs Torino
2016/17 Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday, 21 May 2017
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK,
Venue: Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris (Udine).
After a 5-0 humiliation at the hands of Napoli, Torino will hope to get back on track as they take on Genoa on Sunday.
That ended a seven game unbeaten run for the Granata and also was the first time in which Torino failed to score. It was a nightmare game for the team, especially shot-stopper Joe Hart, who will seek to make amends against the struggling Grifone. Genoa, meanwhile, will be hoping to remain afloat, and although they don’t look likely to be relegated, they are not 100 per cent safe either.
If Crotone somehow manage to handle Juventus or Lazio, and Genoa lose, they will be in trouble. Somehow, things have gone horribly awry for the Grifone. They seem to be a far cry from the side who beat both AC Milan and Juventus earlier this season. At one point, the team were viewed as a dark horse contender for a European football spot. But then they saw key players depart for bigger sides, and they have failed to find their footing since.
Genoa are one of the few sides to lose both home and away to Palermo, who were relegated a few rounds back. They also suffered a shocking and humiliating 5-0 defeat to Pescara. Whilst that result didn’t save the Delfini from relegation, it was still an awful showing and not encouraging for Genoa supporters. They have won just two of their last 21 games and despite being Inter recently, they have scored just seven goals in their last nine home fixtures.
Meanwhile, Torino are the highest scoring team outside the top three. Their 5-0 loss to Napoli was shocking as they generally are able to grab at least a couple of goals and they will surely want to get back to scoring ways against the floundering Grifone. Andrea Belotti has fallen behind in the Capocannoiere race, but with Edin Dzeko reportedly sidelined with a calf problem, this could be a chance for him to close the gap.

Genoa vs Torino: Prediction
Torino have lost just two out of their last seven away games, and during that run, they became the first side to nick points off Juventus at their home Stadium. Genoa, meanwhile have failed to win nine out of their last ten home games.
However, the Grifone are playing at home and will try to cause problems for Torino, especially as they want to ensure they remain safe in the top flight for next term.
