Genoa vs SPAL
Italian Serie A.
Date: Saturday, 31 March 2018
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK/ 15:00 CET
Venue: Stadio Communale Luigi Ferraris (Genoa).
After a decent start, Genoa have started to slip up yet again. They have lost three on the trot and are only six points away from the drop zone. They will be looking to turn things around quickly as they take on a desperate SPAL side who are hoping to remain in the top flight next season.
Genoa may seem to be comfortable, but they could be dragged right back down with another loss. Having failed to score in their last three fixtures, there are major concerns, especially as SPAL managed to put in an ultra-defensive performance and halt Serie A leaders Juventus in their last fixture.
SPAL are unbeaten in their last four, including their scoreless stalemate with Juventus and as a result, have clawed their way up into 17th. However, they’re not out trouble just yet. Crotone sit just one point behind, and as Serie A fans are well aware, the Squali are no strangers to mounting a late survival push. Meanwhile, Hellas Verona are just three points back, but encouragingly for SPAL, they are only behind 16th-placed Chievo on goal difference.
Genoa have failed to score in their last three games, but SPAL are hardly the highest scoring side either. Still, the fact that the visitors managed to hold the Bianconeri to a scoreless draw – like they did to Lazio at the start of the season – could mean that the Grifone struggle to break down their highly defensive set-up.
Both will be under pressure of course to avoid a straight out loss, as the visitors could find themselves right back in drop zone if Crotone manage to beat Fiorentina.

Genoa vs SPAL: Prediction
Five of SPAL’s last seven games have seen both teams fail to score, whilst Genoa’s last five games have seen someone record a shut-out. All signs point to a very low scoring affair, especially as Genoa have failed to score in their last three and SPAL will be looking to keep things as controlled as possible to secure at least a vital point.
