Genoa vs Fiorentina Italian Serie A Predictions by LeagueLane

Genoa vs Fiorentina
Italy – Serie A
Date: Sunday, 01 September 2019
Kick-off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris.

Genoa fought back three times to force a 3-3 draw in the season opener against AS Roma at Stadio Olimpico. Team from the capital had more of the game, but ‘Rossoblu’ showed unmatched fighting spirit and fully exploited Roma’s poor backline. Their young studs up front, Christian Kouame and Andrea Pinamonti, bagged a goal each. Genoa narrowly escaped relegation last season and they will be looking to avoid the drama this time around.

‘La Viola’ was also involved in a Round One thriller when they faced last season’s runner-ups, Napoli. Whenever Fiorentina levelled the score in the second half, ‘Gli Azzurri’ responded with a quick goal of ther own and, eventually, recorded 4-3 victory. Fiorentina’s winless streak in Seria A in now at 15 games. They’re looking to sign few players before the transfer window shuts on September 2.

Genoa vs Fiorentina: Prediction

It’s really hard to pick a winner here. Genoa are a mediocre side with a couple of exciting talents in attacking department. I know how they react when they’re backed into a corner, but I’m not convinced then can get the job done against ‘La Viola’ on Sunday. Their win-draw-lose record at home last season was 6-8-5.

Fiorentina will be fun to watch this season. Yes, Ribery is 36 years old, but I’m fairly confident he will do well in Italy, especially in tandem with Chiesa. If they add a proper striker and couple of midfielders before the deadline, they should aim for top-half finish, but as it stands, I can’t trust them to deliver at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris.

I’m going for an obvious choice – a draw, which H2H record strongly support. Third goal-less game on a trot would be too much, though, especially after two crazy games in the first round.
