Genoa vs Brescia: Prediction
The Rossoblu board sacked Aurelio Andreazzoli after a humiliating 1-5 loss at the hands of Parma in the previous round and appointed former Azzurri midfielder Thiago Motta as their new coach.
Genoa are second-to-last in the Serie A standings with one win, two draws and five losses to their name. Winless since Matchday 2, Rossoblu’s will be hoping to end their bad run when they take on Brescia at Luigi Ferraris Stadium on Saturday.
Cristian Romero should be back in the starting XI, but Criscito and Sturaro are still out.
Brescia, currently 15th in the standings with the win-draw-lose record of 2-1-4 and a game in hand, played out a goalless draw against Fiorentina last week. The Rondinelle had an early goal disallowed by VAR and that pretty much killed the game.
Brescia are a tricky team on the road as they have won two games out of four. They’re on a winless run of their own, although they had a very difficult schedule (Juventus, Napoli, Fiorentina).
Torregrossa is 10 days away from full fitness, while Martella, Tremolada and Dessena will be evaluated.
Genoa picked up four points from four games at home. They have the worst defensive record in the league with 20 goals conceded to date. The Rossoblu have an average of 3.63 goals on their games this season. Seven of their eight games went over 2.5 and BTTS – Yes came in six times.
The Rondinelle have 2-0-2 record on the road. They have an average of 2.29 goals in their games. Brescia are scoring and conceding the same amount of goals away from home – 0.75 goals per bout. Their away numbers are not impressive, but they tend to play positive football.
I’ll stay from the 1X2 market and focus on goals. Without Criscito, Genoa’s backline is significantly weaker and it appears that Motta, who managed PSG u19 last season, likes to play an attacking football – he even spoke about 2-7-2 formation without a goalkeeper?!
The visitors have quality players up front, Serie B capocannoniere Donnarumma and Super Mario, and I’m positive they will find the back of the net here. I’ll take BTTS – Yes as my main bet and go for over 2.5 as well.
