Fulham vs Crystal Palace
2018/19 English Premier League
Date: Saturday, 11th August 2018
Kick-off at 15:00 UK/ 16:00 CET
Venue: Craven Cottage (London).
Fulham return to English Premier League after a four year absence and they kick start their campaign at home against Crystal Palace.
Slavisa Jokanovic got the team here after finishing third in the Championship last season and then beating Aston Villa in the play-off final at Wembley.
Fulham are coming on the back of an awful preseason in terms of results as they managed just 2 wins from 8 games.
On the flip side, this could turn out to be beneficial for the team as they put themselves in the field against some strong Serie A and La Liga teams.
Crystal Palace were poised to go down by the look of things in the first half of last season until Roy Hodgson turned out the fate of the team dramatically by Christmas and took the team to a respectable 11th place finish.
There is a platform to build up on, for a team that looked in turmoil over the past two seasons.
However, Hodgson need to strengthen the key areas of the team by end of the August with midfielder Cheikh Kouyate from West Ham and the highly rated German youngster Max Meyer being the key arrivals.
On the other hand, Fulham were quite busy in the transfer market and strengthened their squad with no less than 7 players.
Aleksandar Mitrovic’s loan deal is now made permanent, while Andre Shurrle and Calum Chambers arrived on loan.
However, the key arrival is that of Jean Michael Seri from Nice, the player who almost joined Barcelona last summer.
Fulham vs Crystal Palace Head-to-head
- Fulham won 5 of the last 8 meetings with Crystal Palace drew 2 and lost 1.
- The Cottagers are unbeaten at home during the period snapping 3 wins and a draw.
- All the four games at the Craven Cottage saw both teams scoring, 3 games saw over 3.5 goals.
Fulham vs Crystal Palace Predictions
Crystal Palace are traditionally poor performers on the road, but signs of improvement are seen since January under the management of Roy Hodgson. Yet, the stats of 4 wins, 6 draws and 3 losses from 13 away games is not that impressive.
Fulham on the other hand, one of the most consistent home sides in the Championship, raked in 12 wins and 2 draws from their 15 home games in calendar year 2018.
Therefore, this will be an interesting clash with Palace coming on the back of an unbeaten pre-season, against teams from English lower division and Scandinavia.
However, we cannot overlook the fact that the Cottagers are unbeaten at home against Crystal Palace in recent duels.
Slavisa Jokanovic have the kind of players to put up a strong fight in Premier League this season, and he will be confident of a positive outcome against their London neighbors this Saturday.
