SC Freiburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt
German Bundesliga – 2017/18 Season
Date: Sunday, 20th August 2017
Kick-off at 14:30 UK / 15:30 CET
Venue: Schwarzwald-Stadion, Freiburg.
SC Freiburg stunned in the previous Bundesliga campaign, but their opponents in the first round had a very disappointing run in the second part of the season. Both teams are predicted to struggle in 2017/18, so the first Freiburg’s and Eintracht’s match could bear huge significance.
SC Freiburg reached UEFA Europa League qualification stages but they were knocked out by Slovenian Domzale unexpectedly. That will be a small advantage for the home side – the fact that they are already in the competitive form. In addition to UEFA participation, Freiburg faced Halberstadt in the first round of DFB Pokal whom they beat with 1-2.
Freiburg might be dragged into the relegation battle this season since they lost several key players that carried the team in the last season.
Eintracht will be aiming to avoid the mistakes they made in the previous season. In Hinrunde (the first half of the season, Round 1-17), Eintracht were performing brilliantly and a lot of experts saw them in UEFA Europa League next season. However, Rückrunde was horrendous for Niko Kovac’s men. They dropped all the way down to the middle and stayed there. Eintracht’s only hope was DFB Pokal final, but they were beaten by Borussia Dortmund.

SC Freiburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt: Prediction
Eintracht are still without one of their crucial players Meier, but the problems are only piling up as Marco Fabian suffered an injury, too. Neither of the two sides have yet found the optimal XI, so anything is possible in the first Sunday’s match.
