Freiburg vs Fortuna Dusseldorf

Fortuna Düsseldorf are traveling to Freiburg desperate for a win in a match where they’ll lock horns against one of the Europa League hopefuls on Saturday lunchtime.
Freiburg vs Fortuna Dusseldorf Match Preview
Philipp Max opened the scoreline for the hosts before Janik Haberer grabbed the equaliser shortly into the second half in a relatively uneventful affair as SC Freiburg took home a point after a 1-1 draw with Augsburg.
Despite their recent missteps, bad form injury-ravaged Schalke 04 found themselves in kept Red&Blacks in contention for continental competitions; sitting at seventh step of Bundesliga ladder, a fall in Europa League is a real possibility as troubled Gelsenkirchen side is just three points away.
Freiburg at Schwarzwald-Stadion do a decent albeit unspectacular job as they’ve managed five wins, two draws and three defeats, which is for Bundesliga standards as average as it can get though I have to mention that in their last outing at home, Red&Blacks won against Hoffenheim, ending their poor-ish run in the process.
Lars Stindl struck two and Marcus Thuram set up as many as Borussia Mönchengladbach sank any hope Flingeraner fans had for an upset as Fortuna succumbed to a 1-4 defeat, one of the toughest for Düsseldorf-based side this season and first for a new man at the helm, Uwe Rösler.
Managers come and go but Fortuna still can’t catch a break and record an overdue win; match against Borussia was their fifth in a row without sweet taste of victory and 13th defeat of the year which deservedly places them at 16th place, a relegation play off spot, with Mainz and Bundesliga safety being a huge five points away.
On the side, Rösler’s team still hold the depreciating title of worst of the worst during Bundesliga excursions, having won just once and collecting six points from their eleven road trips across Germany, one of them coming from the latest one at Wolfsburg.
Yoric Ravet and Lukas Kübler are finally back in training for Freiburg after being absent for a long time but it’s too early for them and I wouldn’t expect them back on the field just yet.
Kenan Karaman is back for Fortuna and might see some limited action during Saturday’s trip while Dawid Kownacki, Tim Wiesner and Zackary Thomas Steffen remain on the sidelines.

Freiburg vs Fortuna Dusseldorf Prediction
What we have here are two stiff, tenacious, out of form sides, lacking in attacking prowess and, during the last two or three matches I’ve watched, without desire to change anything.
Freiburg, looking at the table, might look like a side fighting for Europa League but from what I’ve seen, it’s like they don’t even want to end up there.
That’s why I’m recommending these two options. Under 3 goals, because both of them combined lack any real attacking and/or creative firepower to score more and both rarely went over this limit lately (with obvious exceptions when touted against big sides).
Meanwhile ‘Full-Time Draw’ is just a hunch as I really don’t see any of them doing much and wouldn’t be surprised at all if we saw a repeat of Freiburg’s last snooze fest of a match against Augsburg.
