Eintracht Frankfurt are aiming to win their 3rd consecutive Bundesliga match when they travel to Dusseldorf to battle it out with Fortuna on Saturday lunchtime.
Fortuna Dusseldorf vs Eintracht Frankfurt: Match Preview
Bayer Leverkusen sent Fortuna Dusseldorf to the bottom of the Bundesliga table with a 3-0 home win on Sunday although the score flattered Rheinlanders as it could’ve been so much worse has Leverkusen players had more concentration in the final third.
Fortuna parted ways with long-serving manager Funkel on 29 January, with the Rhineland side three points adrift of safety at the bottom of the table, following a run of one win, two draws and six defeats; the new guy, Uwe Rosler is tasked with crawling their way out of relegation zone.
And honestly, axing Funkel might’ve been too harsh. After all, Fortuna played almost exclusively top six sides in their poor run; Rheinlander have won against Union at Merkur Spielarena amidst their losing run, even beating Koln and Mainz there before Bayern started them on this dark path but unfortunate loss at home v Werder last week might have been the straw to break camel’s back.
Eintracht Frankfurt put in a particularly impressive second-half display to secure a memorable 2-0 victory over a formidable Leipzig side at the Commerzbank-Arena on Saturday.
It was second consecutive victory for the Eagles following a nightmarish two months period, after the New Year’s break they’ve seem like completely different side beating Europa League hopeful Hoffenheim and current league leaders Leipzig.
Their poor away form really dragged them down this year. Adi Hutter’s men are among the poorest sides on the road in the league, getting just two wins from nine travels, losing every other game which resulted in them residing at 9th place, way off their desired Europa League placement.
Tim Wiesner and Kenan Karaman will miss out Uwe Rosler’s debut while it is on him to decide whether are Zackary Steffen and Lewis Baker ready to get back into action following long injury absences.
Gelson Fernandes, Nils Stendera, Lucas Torró and Marco Russ won’t be able to help their teammates on their Dusseldorf adventure while Bas Dost and Sahverdi Cetin might be well enough to make the trip.

Fortuna Dusseldorf vs Eintracht Frankfurt: Prediction
Their terrible form, important players missing due to injuries, recently hired new manager, Frankfurt’s revival, their h2h record v Fortuna, everything points out to third win in a row for the Eagles.
Uwe Rosler is the typical kind of manager; players need time to get used to his system and he will not have enough of it to prepare his pupils for on-high Eintracht.
Asian handicap on Adi Hutter’s pupils might seem a little ballsy but except for their last outing, Frankfurt dealt with Fortuna rather easily, winning three of their four previous games with three or more goals advantage.
So I am banking on that, if the Eagles decide to show up, they can rack up another few in the back of Fortuna’s net.
