One of the derby matches in the 12th round of Brazilian Serie A is going to be contested between Fluminense and Santos, two old rivals which spent ages playing in top fight. Home side is in a very bad streak of four winless matches and in the last three occasions they suffered defeats. They had a pretty good start, but then the quality of their performances declined severely.
Pedro and the lads are doing a decent job in front of the oppositions’ goal, however their defensive work should be much better. Fluminense have been playing pretty good at home ground and allowed just one defeat in front of their fans.
Santos are having a very disappointing season as they are just one point above the relegation zone. They’ve celebrated just three times in ten occasions and Jair Ventura should be working on finding the winning formula for his team. They were not playing bad in the front, but the quality of their defending is pretty poor. The visitors have been very bad when playing away from home where they managed to snatch just a point.

After booking three victories in a row, Santos failed to celebrate in the last two clashes against their rivals. We haven’t seen a draw in their head to head clashes at Maracanã since 2008. When these two teams are facing each other, the crowd is usually able to enjoy a lot of goals, especially when Fluminense are the hosts.

This one is very hard to predict as both sides are in poor form, however the hosts should have slight advantage as Santos are playing really bad at away grounds. Fluminense should be able to break their winless streak and climb to the top half of the table.
Since both sides have been playing fairly good in the final third and their defending is not so tight, in this one we might be able to see at least three goals. Santos would need to attack in order to have the chance to book a positive result, while Fluminense will know how to use the cracks in the visitors’ defence.
