FC Luzern vs Crystal Palace
Date: Tuesday, 9 July 2019
Kick-off at 19:00 UK/ 20:00 CET
Venue: Tissot Arena.
This time around, English club Crystal Palace, and German club Frankfurt take part in this pre-season competition. Both the guests are formidable for the two Swiss groups in contention, and each of the two ties matter, if the title is to be earned.
There was a huge disparity in quality of performances in the Swiss top division last year. Young Boys posted a mammoth 91 points, which was followed by Basel with 71. And then came four clubs with just 46 points, of which Luzern was one.
The chance to square up against top quality opposition before the season commences is something huge for the team from Lucerne, especially since they are aiming for a much better finish in the league this season.
As ever, the intensely competed English Premier League saw clubs squandering for points in the last several match-days, and Palace failed to carve out a spot in the top half, while newcomer Wolves finished seventh.
The story won’t be the same this time too, and Wilfried Zaha and co will have to be on their toes right from the beginning. A warm-up against another side with top objectives would be a great way to get their season going.

FC Luzern vs Crystal Palace Prediction
When push comes to shove, the quality that the English opposition possesses will be too much to handle for Swiss players. Palace regularly wages wars against some of the best teams in the world, and Luzern from the comparatively lower Swiss league, should not prove to be much of a problem.
Also, the presence of Frankfurt in the mix raises competition for the Premier League side. Most probably goal difference would come into play once matches are over, and it would be good for Palace to have some margin of scores in the bank.
Moreover, the English group is unbeaten in their last four games and won three of them. They also scored a total of eight goals from their last two. Also, they registered a confidence-boosting road win over Arsenal with a 2-3 scoreline during this stretch.
On the road, they registered wins in six of their last eight fixtures and scored two or more goals in nine of their last thirteen trips. On the other hand, Luzern was winless in 11 of their last 16 ties and conceded four or more goals in two of their last four.
Despite having the support of the crowd, the home team is about to have a tough evening.
