Stoke’s preseason had its ups and downs as they were featured in nine friendly matches since July. At first, Stoke met two Swiss sides – Xamax and Young Boys were both beaten by Stoke. The visitors then faced AS Monaco and Amiens. They were beaten by Champions League semi-finalists but they defeated the latter.
Stoke then registered two unpleasant defeats from Sheffield United and Crew while beating Bolton. At last, Stoke squared off with two German teams – St. Pauli, who beat them 4-2 and RB Leipzig. Stoke beat Bundesliga runner-ups with 1-2.
Stoke’s ambitions for the upcoming season are the same as ever – securing the mid-table position while pushing for Europa League.
Stoke City recently signed Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting from Schalke 04. Earlier, they signed Kurt Zouma from Chelsea and Tre Pemberton from Blackburn.
