Everton vs Leicester Prediction
Everton had the home advantage in the previous round of this competition, and had taken on the 20th placed team in the EPL table, Watford. Still, they were made to toil hard for the win.
It took Everton 72 minutes to find the first goal of the game, and though later they were able to add one more (courtesy, a Richarlison goal in the 90+3rd minute), the 2-0 win over minnows Watford raised some serious questions regarding the performance of the Toffees.
Meanwhile, Leicester managed to carry over their stupendous form in the league to this cup competition, in the Round of 16. They were on the road, and had locked horns with Burton. Expectedly, the 2015-16 Premier League champions cruised to a 1-3 win at the final whistle.
As things stand, Leicester are a shoe-in for the win this Wednesday. A brief glance into the EPL table would be enough to get convinced of this fact. As of now, the Foxes are the only team that stand in the path of Liverpool from taking the league crown.
Brendan Rodgers’s men are placed second in the table, even above two-time defending champions, Manchester City. The former have lost just two games this whole league campaign, and have scored just two goals fewer than Jurgen Klopp’s men.
In addition, Leicester boast of having the best defense at the moment in England, and just may be, in the whole of Europe. As the league campaign is approaching its halfway mark, the team has let in a total of just 11 goals, which even the duo of Virgil van Dijk and Allison Becker have failed to replicate.
Moreover, Leicester are on a ten-match unbeaten run, and impressively won nine consecutive games in the process. They have also scored two or more goals in 12 of their previous 14 fixtures, and most importantly, since April, they have lost just thrice in total.
What amazes fans the most is the fact that, all three losses had come on the road, and were against Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United.
Even bad news for Everton is the fact that, the Foxes are on a five-match winning run away from home, and in the process, recorded a 2-20 combined scorecard.
On the other hand, the Toffees have a single win from their last five fixtures, and had lost three of those as well. In addition, they were winless in ten of their former fifteen overall games, and lost an embarrassing eight of those.
Going on, Leicester have also been the better team in h2h clashes for quite a long time. In fact, they recorded seven of the last eleven h2h wins, and have lost just twice at this venue in the previous 15 years. Moreover, never once have Rodgers’s men failed to slot in a goal at this stadium in the past two decades.
Considering all these observations, the second-best team in England at the moment, Leicester, are expected to record a win this Wednesday, and move into the semis. However, to be on the safe side, we will opt for the modest Double Chance bet. Punters who wish for a little bit of excitement could surely place a bet on the Foxes to win.
On the same note, the impressive defensive displays of the Foxes, along with the recent struggles of Everton (currently placed 16th in the table) help us to pick out another top bet – Leicester to keep a clean sheet at least for the first 45 minutes, and may be for the whole game.
