Everton vs Arsenal
England – Premier League
Date: Saturday, 19 December 2020
Kick-off at 17:30 UK/ 18:30 CET
Venue: Goodison Park.
After their recent slump, the Toffees seem to be slowly returning to the form they had shown at the start of the season. After back-to-back wins against two high profile teams, confidence is certainly on the rise at their camp.
At present they are placed fifth in the table, trailing by just two points below the second-placed Spurs. This match-day, the second-placed Tottenham are locking horns with Leicester, and the third-placed Southampton are taking on Manchester City.
As such, Carlo Ancelotti’s men have a chance to climb significantly up the table this weekend. All they have to do is take care of business against the struggling Gunners.
Mikel Arteta’s men are placed 15th in the table, and have remained winless in nine of their total thirteen league games in 2020-21. And of these, a worrying seven were losses.
Considering the form of Everton, and the dismal run of the Gunners, expect the former to be the better team on the pitch this weekend, especially so at their home.
Everton vs Arsenal: Head-to-head (h2h)

- They have also recorded five of the preceding seven overall wins.
- At this venue, the hosts are unbeaten since 2017, and the guests have not scored once in that period.
- Since 2006, only thrice have the home team failed to find the back of the net at this stadium.
Everton vs Arsenal: Prediction
The Toffees recorded a 0-2 win on the road the last match-day, against Leicester. Before that, they had registered a 1-0 win at home against Chelsea. Meanwhile, the Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Southampton.
Going on, barring Europa League match-ups against teams from inferior leagues, Arteta’s men have been winless all through the past two months. They also have failed to score at a rate of at least one goal per fixture this league season.
They are also placed just two spots or five points above the relegation cut-off, and have been one of the worst teams in the competition.
On the other hand, their opposite number had won six of their last nine appearances at home, and they had remained unbeaten at home this season, barring games against Leeds, and Manchester United.
Taking into account the return to form of Ancelotti’s men, and the continued dismal run of their counterparts, expect Everton to have the upper hand this weekend.
