Espanyol vs Levante
Spanish La Liga
Date: Sunday, 16 September 2018
Kick-Off at 15:15 UK / 16:15 CET
Venue: RCDE Stadium (Cornella de Llobregat).

Espanyol and Levante head into Sunday’s clash at RCDE Stadium lock on points after three rounds in La Liga.

They both won, drew and lost one of fixtures so far. The Budgerigars disappointed two weeks ago when they surprisingly fell 2-1 away at Deportivo Alaves after clinching pour points from two rather more complicated matches against Celta Vigo (1-1 on the road) and Valencia (2.0 win at home).

The new head coach Rubi, however, still has reasons to be optimistic ahead of Levante’s visit given that Espanyol generally play much better on the home patch. They proved it in the second round beating Valencia to nil in their lone clash at RCDE Stadium this season. The Budgerigars won 8, drew 6 and lost 5 of 19 home matches in the previous term of Primera Division.

Espanyol vs Levante: Head-to-head

  • The two sides met each other on as many as four occasions last season.
  • The draw put them together in the last 16 round of Copa del Rey when both teams snatched away wins, but Espanyol advanced 3-2 on aggregate.
  • Teams shared spoils both home and away in league outings last term.
  • Just one of past four H2H meetings saw three or more goals scored.

Espanyol vs Levante: Prediction

Rubi will have to keep a close look on two men here. Roger Marti and Jose Luis Morales are lone scorers for the Frogs so far in the season, but they three goals to their names apiece ahead of this fourth round trip to Catalonia.

Marti was the one who inspired Levante in a 2-2 draw to local rivals Valencia before the international break, bagging a brace back then.

Espanyol have their own weapons up front in the likes of Borja Iglesias and Leo Baptistao who will no doubts be the main threat to the Frogs’ goal here.

The quality should be on Espanyol’s side, but instead of backing the home win at 1.72 odds, we’ll go with the BTTS option, priced up at 1.80.

Borja Iglesias, who notched 22 goals for Real Zaragoza last season in Segunda, is our top suggestion for the anytime goalscorer bet. You can have the Spaniard to find the back of the net at the 2.05 odds here.

Espanyol vs Levante: Bet Tips

  • BTTS @ 1.80 (4/5)
  • Borja Iglesias to score anytime @ 2.05 (21/20).
