This weekend of Premier League was full of surprises as Chelsea’s troubles this season hit rock bottom, Manchester City completely outplayed by a brilliant Stoke City and Klopp’s men were stunned by Newcastle.
Jamie Vardy didn’t score for the first time in 11 outing, but Leicester had an other hero as Riyad Mahrez grabbed a hat-trick, while Manchester United still can’t find the back of the net.
Lets see who are this week’s top performers who made it into our English Premier League Team of the Week.
1. Goalkeeper – Artur Boruc (Bournemouth)
Boruc was the main reason Chelsea lost against Bournemouth on Saturday, putting in a superb form. Boruc made a total of 7 convincing saves, highest in the Premier League over the weekend, denying Chelsea players the chance to score and thus keeping a clean sheet at Stamford Bridge.
2. Defender- Winston Reid (West Ham)
West Ham defended well against a strong football possessive side, and Wiston Reid played a good part in it. He was the man of the match with a rating of 8.52, he won 4 aerial dwells, 3 tackles and completed 65% of his passes. He also played one shot on target which happens to hit the cross bar.
3. Defender- Chris Smalling (Manchester United)
Smalling is no doubt one of the best defenders in premier league, and he is gradually turning into a football bully, though it ended goalless again fir united, Smalling played impressively. He managed 4 shots, 80% pass success rate, won 5 aerial dwell and won 3 tackles.
4. Defender- Gary Cahill (Chelsea)
Though Chelsea lost, Cahill was strong in defense, he was one of the best Chelsea players on Saturday, with a rating of 7.10, he had a pass success rate of 90%, won 2 aerial dwells and 2 tackles.
5. Defender – Adam Smith (Bournemouth)
His brilliant form off the bench from last week continues over this weekend. Was a bully to Chelsea forwards, he had a rating of 8.19, won 6 successful tackles, made 3 successful dribbles.
6. Midfielder – Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal)
Aaron Ramsey seems to be back with his goal scoring form again, Ramsey’s partnership with Ozil seems to be the best Arsenal has for the moment, Ramsey played a total of 7 shots, scoring one goal and assisting one goal, he had a pass success rate of 91% and a rating of 8.49. Impressive!!!
7. Midfielder- Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)
Mesut Ozil seems to be enjoying every moment of his season, assisting week-in week-out and getting his name on the score sheet when it matters. The German play-maker was the man of the match against Sunderland with a pass success rate of 79%, he provided one assist, 3 successful dribbles and 1 shot.
8. Midfielder- Xherdan Shaqiri (Stoke)
Xherdan Shaqiri made the game miserabke for City, his combination with Arnoutovic and Bojan was incredible and pure class. He was the man of the match a rating of 9.13, had a pass success rate of 91%, had won shot and made 5 impressive dribbles. He assisted Arnoutivics two goals.
9. Midfielder- Riyad Mahrez (Leicester)
The hat-trick hero and man of the match out shined Jamie Vardy against Swansea City over the weekend, both players has a good understanding that helped them beat The Swans in their own home, Riyad Mayrez was superb in the match and his 3rd goal was sensational, he got a 10 rating, total of 5 shots, 2 successful dribbles and 2 tackles.
10. Midfielder- Marko Arnautovic (Stoke)
Arnoutovic was the tool WestHam used in demolishing Manchester City, he was a threat to City, Scoring 2goals and hitting the woodwork twice, he could have gotten a hat-trick or scored four. He had 9.08 rating, 5 shots and 76% pass success.
11. Forward – Odion Ighalo (Watford)
The Nigerian born striker has been like a propeller for Watford, he is always contributing to goals, he was a torn in the flesh for Norwich City defenders, he was the man of the match with 8.75 rating, total of 7 shots, 4 dribbles and scored 1 goal.
