LeagueLane’s English Premier League Round-up – Week 11

Lets see who made it into LeagueLane’s English Premier League Team of the week 11.

Goalkeeper – Jack Butland (Stoke City)

Jack Butland, the young England goalkeeper made six saves in the match to shut out Newcastle, earning his third consecutive clean sheet this season. He has made 46 saves this season, the most number by any goalkeeper in the league.

Stoke has been pretty poor with their overall performances this season, but Butland has saved them from being brutalized on many occasions. His great form once again earned Stoke a point in a 0-0 draw against Newcastle.

Defender – Momadou Sahko(Liverpool)

Sahko was in Superb form against Chelsea and he won four aerial duels, more than any Liverpool player, he gives his all when battling for the ball. He distributes the ball well and played a good part that led to Coutinho’s second goal.

Defender – Hector Bellerin (Arsenal)

Hector Bellerin produced an energetic performance for the Gunners and put more than any other Arsenal player from open play against Swansea City, he linked up well with Joel Campbell who was playing in front of him and their partnership was very useful in the right side of the pitch.

Defender – Nicolas Otamendi (Manchester City)

The summer signing is growing in stature with every game and shown brilliantly composure to read the game when needed and never put a foot wrong in the defense. A bullet header to open the scoring of Manchester City. And key contributor that helped Manchester City to keep hold on to their pole position in English Premier League.

Defender – Koscielny (Arsenal)

Kolsceilny is seen as Arsenal’s best defender so far this season, he along side other defenders kept another clean sheet, controlling the defence line a wonderful manner. And joined attack when necessary. He scored Arsenal’s second goal against Swansea City.

Midfielder – James McCarthy (Everton)

The 24 years old Irishman produced a performance of highest quality in sync with Gareth Barry to give Everton attackers much freedom giving forward. Provided a brilliant assist for Aruna Kone’s second goal in the second half.

Midfielder – Coutinho (Liverpool)

Coutinho put an end to his 710 minutes play without a Premier League goal after he scored a brace against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, the goals were spectacular and sensational, the second goal was brilliantly executed with a little luck from deflection. A magical display to propel Liverpool to their first Premier League win under Jurgen Klopp

Midfielder – Arouna Kone(Everton)

Arouna Kone joined the list of Ivorians to net a Premier League hat-trick more than any African nation(Aruna Dindane, Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Yaya Toure), he also got an assist in the game.

For the past eight years Everton haven’t scored six goals in a single match, but the chances came on Sunday against Sunderland and Arouna Kone stepped in and took full advantage of the situation.

Midfielder – Riyad Mahrez (Leicester)

Mahrez has scored seven goals and provided five assists in his last 10 premier league games, Leicester came from behind to win Westbrom thanks to goals from Mahrez and Vardy, Mahrez scored a brace to cancel salomon rondon’s first half goal and put Leicester in front and Vardy scored the third.

Forward – Jamie Vardy (Leicester)

Vardy has now scored in his eight consecutive Premier League games and the third player to do so after after Ruud van Nistelrooy and Daniel Sturridge. Vardy is one of the centre forwards who can create their own goals, he has good pace which gives him the chance to get away from defenders and he links well with Mahrez. Both players has netted a combined 18 goals this season out of Leicester City’s 23.

Forwarder – Odion Ighalo (Watford)

Odion Ighalo makes our team of the week for the second time after his superb performance that earned his side 3 points on saturday, the Nigerian born striker is always composed and has his eyes fixed on the goal, scored a goal in each half and nearly grabbed a hat trick. Looks like he’ll be getting an international call up sooner than letter.
