England vs USA
Date: Thursday, 15 November 2018
Kick-Off at 20:00 UK / 21:00 CET
Venue: Wembley Stadium (London).
England host United States in what should be the 120th and final game for Rooney who is expected to be back from international retirement to play at least second half of a friendly. It will be a nice occasion for the DC United striker to end his wealthy international career at Wembley.
The Three Lions will generally come into the game in the highest of spirits following a tremendous 2-3 victory over Spain exactly a month ago. It was probably the best first-half showing of the last decade for England who completely outplayed La Furia Roja at Betis’ home Estadio Benito Villamarin. Raheem Sterling notched a brace, while Marcus Rashford added a goal himself in a fascinating first half which ended in England’s 0-3 lead on Spanish soil.
Gareth Southgate’s men are now unbeaten in last three matches, two of which saw them keep their net untouched. Given this is a farewell match for the former captain, there are no doubts the hosts will be highly motivated to get a result and also maintain the fine spell of form.
England vs USA: Head-to-head
England lead the head to head tie by a single win coming into their seventh encounter with the USMNT.
The Three Lions won three and drew one of last four meetings with United States.
England are two from two in international friendlies against the Five Stripes at home thanks to two separate 2-0 wins from 1994 and 2008.
England vs USA: Prediction
The visitors will come into this in much lower spirits. They actually won just one of past six matches. Their defensive line allowed as many as five goals in two October fixtures against Colombia and Peru. United States are winless in last five games on the road, each of which saw goals scored at both ends.
England are heavy favourites based on both form and head to head trend and we expect them to confirm the tag and pick up a comfortable straightforward victory on Thursday night.
