Eintracht Frankfurt head into Sunday’s home tie with Wolfsburg in the highest of spirits after continuing their impressive spell of form on Thursday night. They booked the top spot in Group H with a demolishing 4-0 victory over Ligue 1 outfit Olympique Marseille. It was team’s fifth win on the spin in all competitions. Eintracht’s golden run dates back to late-September when they stormed 4-1 past Hannover. The Eagles thus won 10 and drew 1 of past 11 official games across competitions.
To make it even more impressive, most of these wins came in a rather commanding fashion with Adi Hutter’s men bagging three or more goals most of the times. They did so last weekend as well in the 1-3 easing past Augsburg at WWK-Arena. Jonathan de Guzman, Sebastien Haller and Ante Rebic were on target on the occasion, while Serbian prodigy Luka Jovic stole the show in mid-week’s Europa League tie when he netted a brace past Marseille.
Wolfsburg will rely on the head to head tradition in matches against Frankfurt here.
The Wolves won 17, drew 11 and lost only 6 of 34 encounters against Eintracht.
Frankfurt came on top when these two sides last met each other in January this year. They claimed a 1-3 victory away at VOLKSWAGEN ARENA.
Wolfsburg managed to end a two-defeat thread by beating the fourth-placed Leipzig 1-0 at home last weekend. They were the inferior side on the pitch in that clash, but somehow managed to defend their goals after Jerome Rousillon bagged the match-winner five minutes upon interval.
The Wolves will face a very tough task keeping things tight at the back against one of the strongest attacking lines in the country here. Eintracht have really been on fire lately and they are well worth backing to clinch a three-pointer in front of the home fans at the 1.80 odds.
